How does Orthognathic surgery affect the Mentolabial Groove from the frontal view?

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine how the mentolabial groove at frontal view is affected by orthognathic surgery. Materials & Methods: Sixty-two patients were appointed into two groups (Group 1: Class II skeletal deformity, Group 2: III deformity). In each patient, pre and postoperative standardized sixth-month photos (lateral view) obtained in natural head position investigate length (MGL), depth (MGD), angle (MGA) (MLA). Results: Out 62 patients, 41 had deformity (66.2%) 21 (33.8%). 1, average ratio MGL decreased significantly from 0.59±0.14 0.45±0.09 (p<0.001). Contrary increased 0.41±0.11 0.50±0.13 2 (p=0.001). There a negative correlation between MGA (p=0.001, r=-0.439). MGD positively correlated with (p<0.001, r=0.499). Conclusion: After surgery, decreases class increases patients. Orthognathic surgery affects anatomy therefore should be planned carefully obtain an aesthetic appearance region.
